Trading Posts
Trading Posts reward building specific sets of colored development cards with lasting powers.
Setup
Place five stacks beside the card market, one for each power, with one tile of each power per player. Keep the regular turn and scoring rules.
Claim a post
At the end of your turn, after checking for a noble, claim one unclaimed power if your cards meet its requirement. You may claim at most one per turn and never a second tile of a power you already own. The power lasts for the rest of the game; discarding a card later does not make you lose it.
The five powers
- 3 red + 1 white: Immediately after buying a card and before replacing it, take one non-gold token, even one you just spent.
- 2 white: After taking two gems of the same color, take one non-gold gem of another color.
- 3 blue + 1 black: Each gold token you spend is worth two pieces of one color. Overpayment is lost, and gold still counts as one piece toward the 10-token limit.
- 5 green: Gain one prestige for each Trading Post you own, including this one. This can trigger the end of the game.
- 3 black: When reserving from a deck, draw its top two cards unseen, keep one as your reserve, and return the other to the bottom of that deck. This also applies to Orient decks.
