The Silk Road

The Silk Road expansion adds the Cities and Trading Posts modules.

Modules in this expansion

Use the current official Silk Road rules. This booklet provides two modules: The Cities and The Trading Posts. Both can be used independently or together with the base game and other expansions, following the booklet’s combination notes.

The Cities

Replace the nobles with three randomly chosen city tiles, each showing a randomly chosen side. At the end of a turn, check for a city whose prestige threshold and bonus-card requirements you meet. The first successful player triggers the end of the current round. If exactly one player meets any city’s requirements then, that player wins; otherwise the qualifying player with most prestige wins, then fewer owned cards breaks a tie, followed by a shared victory.

The Trading Posts

Set up five stacks, one per power, with one tile per player in each. At the end of a turn, after checking for a noble, claim at most one power whose requirement you meet; you can never claim a second tile of the same power. A post remains yours even if a later discard makes you fail its requirement. When Cities and Trading Posts are combined, check the Trading Post requirement before the city, and do not use nobles.

Requirements and effects are: 3 red + 1 white card lets you take one non-gold token immediately after a card purchase, even one just spent; 2 white lets you take one other-color non-gold token after taking two of a kind; 3 blue + 1 black makes each gold spent pay two of one color, with overpayment lost and gold still counting as one toward the hand limit; 5 green grants one prestige for every Trading Post you own, including that one; 3 black lets you draw two cards from a chosen deck and reserve one, returning the other to the bottom. The draw power also works with Orient decks.
